APCCII ANNUAL REPORT FOR 2008 & PLAN FOR 2009
MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR 2008:
- Held ten scheduled regular monthly board meetings and one special meeting attended by majority of the board members.
- Three business dinner meetings were organized on topics which were of great interest to our members, namely 1) “How to run a meeting” by Leighton Farrell from Blacktown City Council, 2) “Year-end Tax Planning” by Reeta Sidhu from ATO and 3) “457 Visa Requirements” by DIMA & Phil Dept of Labor Attache’ Victor Ablan;
- Representation at the Hong Kong-Australia Business Association’s Networking Business forum on July 24 along with other chambers & business associations of other Asian countries;
- Golf tournament held on 27 September 08, was a joint fund raising project with the Knights of Rizal.
- Our major project (led by our then President Mr Ric De Vera), The APCCII Business Awards, had been planned and eventually launched on 24 June 2008. The Board decided to extend the coverage of its major project up to a portion of year 2009 to give the event a bigger and lasting impact to the Philippine community and its friends. We have also received commitments from the Philippine Airlines, ABS-CBN, IRemit and AICL to sponsor this event. Further details regarding nominations, categories, rules & criteria including the nomination form, will be published in future issues of The Bayanihan News.
PLANS AND PROJECT FOR 2009
- To ratify our New Constitution (three-fourth of the members are required to be present in our next AGM which is planned to be held in late February) and induction of newly elected officers at the same time;
- to update members’ database (addresses and contact details) so that all information, communication, invitations and important announcements (including members’ benefits) are widely disseminated;
- To encourage existing members to: participate (as a nominee or nominator) in our forthcoming business awards, renew their membership, and to encourage and eventually sign up other high profile business people to become new members.
- To encourage more fund raising activities;
- To organize two business dinner meetings (3rd Tues April & July) – to present relevant topics of interest to our business where guest speakers from Western Sydney Business Centre will be invited,
- To hold “The APCCII Business Awards Night” (3rd Tues of October); and
- To hold the annual general meeting, election of new officers & Christmas Party (early afternoon of 1st Saturday, Dec).
IMPORTANT EVENTS FOR ALL MEMBERS TO TAKE NOTE FOR 2009: last Tuesday of February (AGM & induction of officers), 3rd Tuesday of April & July (Business Dinner Meetings), 3rd Tuesday of October (Business Awards) and 1st Saturday of Dec. (AGM, election & Christmas party). These are just tentative dates and all members will be notified of further details and final arrangement via email or phone.
Above schedules are in addition to regular monthly Board meetings normally held every 1st Tuesday of the month, hence more support and volunteers are needed for above plans to succeed and all members are challenged to be involved in all our activities.
